Hurricanes are huge storms. when strong winds blow over the ocean surface, they take energy and heat from the warm ocean waters and become a hurricane. If the winds are not strong or the heat is not enough, the hurricane is not formed.
Hurricanes are like huge engines that covert the warmth of the oceans into large winds and waves. They can extend up to 400miles. The centre of a hurricane is called an “eye” but major danger lies in the area around the eye called the “eyewall”. A hurricane lasts for a week and keeps moving at a speed of 10–20 miles per hour on the ocean surface. When the hurricane reaches the shores, it can cause massive destruction with its winds and rains killing millions of people.
