It might seem strange to think that you and your pet may have a common ancestor many, many years ago. Scientists believe that all life on earth evolved from a single-celled organism, that lived around 3.5 billion years ago. So, did you also share your ancestor with the frog that just hopped by?

Well, Charles Darwin seemed to think so. he believed that if we keep tracing back our family tree, other species would also join in. Ultimately, all living beings will be traced to one common ancestor. Pretty cool, isn’t it? He suggested that new species keep on evolving with the changes in their environment. And that is what may have happed so many years ago though we all started as the same species, we all evolved into different species according to our needs.
